Acouustiquerie

"Acoustiquerie" is my graduation project. The given theme was "My environment", and I chose to explore my musical environment — the sounds, instruments, and atmospheres that surround and inspire me daily.

Website

My playlist

I took my entire Spotify playlist and transformed it into a constellation-style visual. It was a huge task : I had to sort all 2,845 tracks by genre and then code every single page manually.

Discover music styles

Then I selected my four favorite music genres and gave each one a short explanation. Blues is in blue, of course; reggae is yellow, like the sun; rock is red for rebellion; and French chanson is green. These are brief descriptions to give a quick overview of each style. You can also listen to each genre directly on its respective page.

Play some music

There's also a fun, interactive page where you can play drums, guitar, and piano using your computer keyboard! The goal is to bring a playful element to the project — though technically, it could still be improved... for now, it won’t help you create a global hit just yet!

All of my partitions

I also organized all of my piano and guitar sheet music to showcase it on the site. Every score has been scanned, and users can download them to play on their own!

Interviews

There's also a built-in radio that lets you listen to short interview excerpts. I selected my 30 favorite artists :

  • -M-
  • Alain Bashung
  • Aretha Franklin
  • Bob Marley & The Wailers
  • Christophe
  • Diam's
  • Elvis Presley
  • Fauve
  • Georges Brassens
  • Jacques Brel
  • Jean-Jacques Goldman
  • Jimi Hendrix
  • La Femme
  • Led Zeppelin
  • Leonard Cohen
  • Lynda Lemay
  • Mademoiselle K
  • Mark Kelly
  • Mark Knopfler
  • Michel Berger
  • Muddy Waters
  • Ms. Lauryn Hill
  • Phanee de Pool
  • Pink Floyd
  • Pixies
  • Pomme
  • Raphaël
  • Ray Charles
  • Roxette
  • William Sheller
and found an interview for each of them on YouTube. I edited each clip to keep only the most interesting parts. It’s a great way to hear these artists speak in their own words and get a feel for their ideas, personalities, and voices. The interviews span several decades and are in both French and English, which adds a rich mix of languages, eras, and perspectives.

About

One page is dedicated to explaining the concept behind the project. It starts with a short introduction, along with an illustration of myself, as if I'm personally speaking to the users, guiding them through the experience. After that, a full page goes into detail, presenting all the different sections of the site and what they offer.

Conclusion

This project represents many long hours of work, not only as a creative challenge but also as an introspective journey. It is a personal exploration of my musical environment, shaped by years of listening, playing, and connecting with music in all its forms.

Acoustiquerie is my diploma project from the École d’Arts Appliqués de La Chaux-de-Fonds (CPNE Pôle Arts Appliqués), based on the theme “My Environment.” I chose music because it has always been a part of my life, whether through its history, its sounds, or its creation. On this site, I have tried to condense that passion into an interactive, visual, and immersive world.

From designing the constellation of nearly three thousand songs to scanning my own sheet music, editing interviews, and even coding instruments you can play, everything was built from scratch. It was also my first time building a site of this complexity, and the technical side taught me a great deal. I had to learn new skills, experiment, and adapt, making the journey even more rewarding.

Ultimately, I wanted to create a space that feels intimate and alive, a place where visitors can take their time to explore music differently. Whether playing a virtual instrument, reading lyrics, listening to an old vinyl, or discovering a new artist, I hope this experience resonates as much with you as it does with me.

Of course, I do not hold the rights to all the content used in this project. Since this is a school project intended solely for educational purposes and will never be sold or commercially exploited, I believe this use is acceptable under fair use principles. However, I am fully aware of the importance of intellectual property rights and respect the work of all artists and creators featured here.
